What’s dope about this destination is each district has it’s own style and flare for the new year’s eve celebration. You’ll find a little bit for everyone, ranging from celebrity dj’s at super chic clubs to intimate gatherings at amazing rooftops. You can also decide to go the traditional route and ring in the new year at the Central World Square with firework shows, live performances and of course…hella people.
WGT Pro Tip: Try out Khao San Road for a street festival vibe. Plenty of music, food and drinks to last you into the new year!
3) VALPARAISO, CHILE
If you’re looking for a chill, low-key NYE celebration…keep on scrolling! Valparaiso, Chile is anything from quiet as it’s known for having THEE largest celebration in Latin America. This city’s gathering begins on December 28th on the harbor and ends with a dope fireworks show launched from 17 different points along the coast.Throughout the day, rest up because there will also be a huge beach party that goes well into the morning on January 1st.
WGT Pro Tip: You can stay in Santiago, Chile and take a bus (about one hour) to Valparaiso for the festivities. Make sure you book your lodging and bus ticket at least 3-4 months in advance!
Think Mardi Gras with a caribbean twist! Head to any major city here and find colorful Junkanoo street parades with music and dancing to get you ready to enter the new year! There will also be a number of beach parties and firework shows going on around the island, so make sure to check out the city you’ll be visiting for all the deets!
WGT Pro Tip: If you’re staying in a resort, make sure to check ahead of time to see if they will have any parties or special dinners!
5) PARIS, FRANCE
Most people would tell you to join the party-goers at the Champs Elysees, but unless you’re 21 with endless energy and patience, dead that. We say head to Montmarte, the city’s red light district and find random street parties with much more character & culture and a lot less people. It’ll be a great time away from the madness in the city!
WGT Pro Tip: Opt for the metro as you’re getting around for the day/ evening. It’s free and it’ll run all night long!
6) REYKJAVIK, ICELAND
With only a few hours of daylight, Reykjavik gets lit EARLY! Their celebration starts once the sun sets with small community bonfires, then ends with a huge firework show that’s best seen from Pearl. After the show is over, head to Prikid (hip hop jams) to party the rest of the night away…oh, and make sure you grab a hot dog to sop up the libations before you head back to your hotel *emoji eyes*
WGT Pro Tip: Don’t let the hype of the holidays make you forget how expensive Reykjavik really is. To avoid spending your whole life savings in the club, we recommend picking up a few bottles of your fave liquor from the airport when you arrive. Your bank account will thank you.
7) CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
For an unforgettable experience in an unforgettable place, you have to book a trip to Cape Town for NYE. Skip the club, and head to one of South Africa’s natural wonders, Table Mountain. You can hike or take a cable car to the summit, have a picnic and chill with other peeps as you watch the the V & A Waterfront fireworks from the best seat in the house. Once the show is done around 12:30, head to one of Cape Town’s local beaches to keep the party going!
WGT Pro Tip: As we mentioned, there were be plenty of impromptu parties on the beach, so don’t forget to pack some suits! Seasons here are the opposite of the U.S., so expect summer temps which gives you permission to show off your melanin.
8) BRUSSELS, BELGIUM
Come prepared to get turnt. Forreal. This city doesn’t just have one designated spot for the turn up either. Find parties for every taste all around the city from rock n’ roll to hip hop jams and hella gay friendly bars. We say try the Fashion District for plenty of bars to hop from as you bring in the new year!
WGT Pro Tip: Click here for more info on parties! Great thing is most clubs are in walking distance so you won’t need to worry about taxis!
